FRANKLIN COUNTY AUDITOR
Your Franklin County Auditor’s office spent 2024 out and about in the community,
working to protect and serve residents and businesses through action and advocacy.
Building on existing fraud prevention initiatives like eAlerts and the Fraud Hotline, early
in 2024 the office joined other county agencies in a Deed/Title Fraud Strike Force. That
Strike Force issued a report that recommended working collaboratively to enhance
existing protections and supporting new legislation to combat fraud in the property
transfer process.
Title fraud remains extremely rare in Franklin County, and the report sought ways to
proactively keep it that way.
The office was active at the statehouse, advocating for an assortment of reforms
to provide real, substantive property tax relief for the residents of Franklin County
and Ohio. The bills our office supported included ideas such as targeted property tax
exemptions, tax deferral programs and homestead modernization, all of which would
help keep Ohio as an affordable place to live.
We continued to engage across the community, helping residents with consumer
protection, affordable housing resources, dog licensing and the other various duties and
services of your Auditor’s office. The office held two Affordable Housing Resource Fairs,
featuring information and resources on affordable, accessible, and high-quality housing and
social services offered by multiple organizations. We also hosted two Shred Hunger events,
where residents could drop off electronic waste to be recycled and paper to be shredded
and recycled.
Your Auditor office fielded thousands of calls to the office’s (614) 525-HOME main information
phone number and responded to 1,374 email inquiries. Out in the community, office staff made
presentations at community meetings and provided office information at festivals, fairs and
block parties.
County Weights and Measures inspectors meticulously checked gas pumps and price scanners to ensure accuracy
for consumers. In 2024 Weights and Measures inspected 5,007 gas pumps, cash registers and scales, and verified thousands of
prices from store scanners.
As part of the office’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, the Auditor’s office returned more than $5 million in 2024 to Franklin
County schools, libraries, parks, municipalities and public agencies.
With 2025 upon us, your Auditor’s office is ready to serve Franklin County residents and businesses with new innovative
initiatives, such as our Community Connects events that engage residents with neighborhood-specific information from office
experts about what the office can do for them. We look forward to a new year of providing superior constituent services for the
people of Franklin County.
